Imphal, May 7, 2026: The Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) has denied allegations linking the group to the reported arson and attacks in Namlee, Choro and Wanglee villages in Kamjong district of Manipur, calling the accusations “false and malicious”.

In a clarification issued by the Office of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), Government of Kuki State, on Thursday, the KNA-B stated that it was not involved in any activities within Indian territory and accused certain media outlets of attempting to tarnish its image without “credible evidence and facts”.
The statement came hours after the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Working Committee issued a communiqué condemning alleged attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages near the Indo-Myanmar border and accused the KNA-B and Myanmar-based People’s Defence Force (PDF) of carrying out coordinated assaults.
Rejecting the allegations, the KNA-B said such reporting was fuelling paranoia, instability and tension in an already fragile region. It maintained that its mission was focused on restoring democracy in Myanmar and reiterated its call for peace and dialogue among communities in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
“We urge the communities in Ukhrul and Kamjong to avoid escalating these incidents into an ethnic conflict,” the statement read.
The group also warned against what it described as attempts to drag it into “petty shadow wars” and urged the Tangkhul community not to disseminate “cheap and baseless information” but instead uphold the truth.
The clarification was issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity under the KNO/KNA-B.
No independent verification of the allegations and counter-allegations was immediately available, while security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the reported incidents.
