Imphal, May 14, 2026: Manipur Police and security forces have arrested a self-styled Founder Chairman of the banned KCP (PWG) along with four active cadres during a joint operation in Imphal West district.
According to police, the arrests were made on May 12 from the Langol area under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district.
The arrested individuals were identified as self-styled Founder Chairman Laishram Ranjit Singh (52), also known by multiple aliases including Tamnganba, Apik and Loya, a resident of Yurembam Awang Leikai in Imphal West district.
The other arrested cadres were identified as Oinam Somenchandra Singh (42) alias Macha alias Moirangjao alias Karangjao of Bishnupur district currently residing in Langol, Arambam Birkumar (52) alias Kanba alias BK of Sekmai Kanglatombi Mantriband, Maibam Tomba Singh (39) alias Loya of Tentha Khunjao in Thoubal district, and Chabungbam Lamnganba Meitei (38) alias Wangba of Heibongpokpi Maning Leikai in Imphal West district.
Security personnel seized five mobile phones and three Aadhaar cards from their possession.
In a separate operation on the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of UNLF (P) from the Lilong Chajing area.
The arrested cadre was identified as Hidangmayum Benerjit Sharma (24) alias Manja of Yairipok Top Chingtha Mathak Leikai in Imphal East district. Police said he was an accused in a bomb explosion case registered at Irilbung Police Station.
During the operation, security forces recovered three mobile phones, a wallet containing ₹32,500 in cash, an Aadhaar card, a UNLF(P) identity card, a side bag, and a Mahindra Scorpio-N vehicle without a registration number.
