Hriatna Mizo Chatbox Expands AI Interaction in Mizo Language

Aizawl, May 7: A locally developed AI-powered chatbot, “Hriatna,” is emerging as a major step forward in promoting the Mizo language in the digital and artificial intelligence space. Designed specifically to understand and respond in Mizo, the chatbot is capable of handling a wide range of user queries, including product and service information, troubleshooting assistance, and general conversations.

Developers said the platform is tailored to meet the needs of Mizo-speaking users by ensuring that conversations are natural, relevant, and culturally aligned. Unlike many mainstream AI models, Hriatna focuses on improving accessibility for users who prefer communicating in their native language.

The application now supports not only text-based conversations but also audio-based interactions, marking a significant advancement for regional language AI technology. Developers believe the chatbot can bridge gaps left by existing global AI models by offering more effective communication in Mizo.

Hriatna uses machine learning algorithms along with user feedback to continuously improve its responses and provide more personalized experiences over time.

The chatbot is available for download on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Version 1.0 of the application was first released in 2023, and the platform is currently being upgraded under “Bhashini,” a Central Government initiative aimed at strengthening Indian language technology and digital accessibility.

According to the Mizomade Team behind the project, the chatbot has already completed Stage 3 of its development process and is undergoing further enhancements.

Developers also highlighted the broader significance of local language chatbots, stating that such platforms can help businesses and organizations operating in multilingual environments improve customer engagement, build trust, and enhance user satisfaction.

They noted that local language AI tools can play an important role in breaking down communication barriers while enabling more inclusive and accessible digital services for regional language communities.
