Manipur CM Reviews Welfare Measures for IDPs, Chairs 7th Cabinet Meeting

Imphal, May 7: Manipur Chief Minister Khemchand Yumnam on Thursday chaired a review meeting with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) legislators at the Manipur Secretariat to assess the welfare and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who continue to face hardships due to the prolonged crisis in the state.

The meeting focused on evaluating the measures being implemented to improve living conditions in relief camps and strengthen support systems for displaced families. The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts and discussed ways to enhance the delivery of essential services, including shelter, food, healthcare, education, sanitation, and livelihood support for those affected by the violence.

During the discussions, Khemchand reiterated that the welfare of internally displaced persons remains one of the government's highest priorities. He emphasised that every effort is being made to ensure displaced families are provided with dignity, safety, and access to essential services while the administration continues working towards their long-term rehabilitation and resettlement.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of close coordination among government departments, district administrations, and elected representatives to ensure that relief measures reach beneficiaries efficiently and without delay. He stressed that a collaborative approach is essential for addressing the challenges faced by thousands of displaced residents across the state.

In a separate development, Khemchand chaired the 7th Cabinet Meeting at the Secretariat later in the day. The Cabinet reviewed a range of issues related to governance, public administration, and developmental priorities. According to the Chief Minister, several important decisions were taken after detailed deliberations, with the objective of improving administrative efficiency and strengthening governance across Manipur.

He said the decisions approved by the Cabinet are expected to contribute to the state's overall development while ensuring that government policies remain focused on public welfare and inclusive growth. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to transparent and responsive governance that addresses the needs of all sections of society.

Concluding the day's meetings, Khemchand stated that the government remains steadfast in its efforts to restore normalcy, strengthen public institutions, and accelerate development while ensuring that vulnerable communities, particularly internally displaced persons, receive the support and assistance they need to rebuild their lives.
