New Delhi, May 12: Delhi Police have detained four accused in connection with the alleged assault, molestation and racial abuse of two women near Nehru Place in southeast Delhi, officials said on Monday.

The
incident occurred during the early hours of May 10 when the victims - one from
Assam and another from Bihar - were allegedly harassed by a group of men near a
tea stall outside Eros Hotel in Nehru Place.
According
to police, the women were subjected to racist remarks and verbal abuse, which
later escalated into a violent altercation. The victims alleged that they were
physically assaulted, stalked and had their clothes torn during the incident.
One of the women also accused the attackers of molestation, while another
claimed she was struck with a bamboo stick while trying to leave the area.
Following
a PCR call received at Kalkaji police station around 7 am, police teams rushed
to the spot and shifted both women to AIIMS Hospital for medical examination.
After
reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses and passersby, police
identified and detained four main accused involved in the incident.

The
accused have been identified as Md Fahad (28), a computer operator; Md Savej (45),
a former bouncer now working as a contract worker; Md Arif (33), an employee at
a mobile store in Noida; and Aman (21), a taxi driver. All are residents of
Jakir Nagar in Okhla.
“All four
identified accused have been detained, and interrogation is ongoing,” a senior
police officer said.
Delhi Police said raids were conducted at several locations linked to the accused during the investigation. An FIR has been registered and further investigation into the case is underway.
