The directive has been circulated to all Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs), and supervisory officers, directing them to ensure that every police station, district establishment, traffic point, check gate, police outpost, and related unit functions with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Under the new guidelines, police personnel have been categorically warned against compelling, coercing, or inducing any individual to pay illegal gratification or bribes for services related to policing and law enforcement.

The order specifically prohibits the illegal collection of money for a range of activities, including entry into Arunachal Pradesh without a valid Inner Line Permit (ILP), passage of trucks and other vehicles through police check gates, settlement of traffic violations outside legally prescribed fines, registration and disposal of First Information Reports (FIRs) and complaints, release of accused persons, suppression or weakening of criminal cases, police verification processes, enquiries, and any other police-related services.

DIGP T. Amo emphasized that corruption, extortion, misuse of authority, and unethical conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that any police personnel found violating the directive would face strict departmental action in addition to legal proceedings under applicable laws.

“The police force must maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism while serving the public. Public trust is the foundation of effective policing, and every officer must uphold that trust through transparent and ethical conduct,” the directive stated.

Officials said the move is intended to strengthen accountability within the police force and improve public confidence in policing across the Capital Region. By eliminating opportunities for corruption and ensuring lawful conduct at all levels, the initiative seeks to create a more citizen-friendly and efficient law enforcement system.

The Arunachal Pradesh Police described the directive as a significant step towards reinforcing ethical policing practices and institutional accountability. Senior officers have been instructed to closely monitor compliance and ensure that all personnel strictly adhere to the new guidelines.

The latest directive reflects the department’s commitment to promoting clean governance, professional policing, and fair treatment of citizens while enhancing the credibility and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in Arunachal Pradesh.
