Aizawl, May 24: Lalduhoma, Chief Minister of Mizoram, on Saturday attended the distribution programme of 500 oxygen concentrators donated by Formosa Foundation through the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl. The programme was organised to strengthen healthcare support systems in Mizoram and neighbouring states.
Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, attended the event as the Guest of Honour along with senior government officials, CYMA leaders, representatives of Formosa Foundation and members of various civil society organisations.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Lalduhoma praised Formosa Foundation for its continued humanitarian support to Mizoram over the years. He stated that the Foundation had consistently stood by the people of the state and contributed significantly towards public welfare through various initiatives.
The Chief Minister recalled that Formosa Foundation, in collaboration with CYMA, had earlier donated ambulances to 13 Group YMAs, one vehicle each to MTP and YLA Sub-Headquarters, 500 sets of disaster relief blankets and 190 sets of kitchen utensils. The Foundation had also provided Bolero Camper vehicles to nine YMA Sub-Headquarters for anti-drug initiatives, school buses to two schools, and extended assistance to orphanages, hospitals and churches across Mizoram.
Lalduhoma particularly acknowledged the Foundation’s major contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying its support had greatly benefited the people during one of the most difficult periods faced by the state.
The Chief Minister also thanked Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera and the Assam Rifles for assisting in the transportation and distribution of the oxygen concentrators. Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Gen. Lakhera said oxygen concentrators are vital during medical emergencies and expressed confidence that the donated units would greatly help patients in need.

Jonathan Lalremruata, Chairman of Formosa Foundation, said the organisation remains committed to helping vulnerable communities and working together with the government and NGOs for the welfare of Mizoram.
The programme was chaired by Prof. Lalnuntluanga, Vice President of CYMA. Father Jerome Vungbiakdika led the invocation, while Prof. Malsawmliana, General Secretary of CYMA, presented a report. R. Lalngheta, President of CYMA, also addressed the gathering.
The 500 oxygen concentrators were distributed not only to selected YMA branches in Mizoram, but also to branches in Assam, Tripura and Manipur, along with certain YLA and MTP branches. Zuangtui Branch YMA donated its allotted units to Behliangchhip Branch in Tripura as a gesture of solidarity.
