Arunachal Begins District-Wise Review Exercise to Strengthen Governance

Itanagar, May 13: Pema Khandu on Wednesday said Phase-I of the district-wise review exercise in Arunachal Pradesh began with an intensive four-hour meeting to assess the ground situation and administrative functioning of several newly created districts in the state.

The review covered the districts of Kamle district, Lower Siang district, Pakke Kessang district, Lepa Rada district, Shi Yomi district, Keyi Panyor district and Bichom district.

According to the Chief Minister, the discussions focused on manpower shortages, department-wise vacancies, administrative infrastructure, policy-level issues requiring intervention by the state government, and the overall preparedness of districts to ensure effective governance and improved public service delivery.

The meeting was attended by elected legislators, Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments, who held detailed discussions on challenges being faced at the district level and measures needed to improve administrative efficiency.

Khandu said the district-wise review exercise would continue up to Phase-IV and would eventually cover all districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

He stated that the initiative aims to build a stronger, more responsive and people-centric administration across the state by addressing governance gaps and improving coordination between departments and district authorities.

The review exercise is part of the Arunachal Pradesh government’s broader efforts to strengthen administrative systems and improve delivery of essential services in newly created and remote districts.
