Dimapur, April 28, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha Nagaland organised a torch march in Dimapur protesting the rejection of 33 percent reservation for women and calling for greater political representation and equality.

Held under the banner “Women’s Power and Dignity - Opposition Insulted Again,” the march saw participation from women and supporters who gathered to voice their demand for stronger representation of women in the democratic process.
Addressing the gathering, T. Rothrong, President of BJP Mahila Morcha Nagaland, said women would no longer remain silent or sidelined in politics and stressed the need for equal participation in governance.

Guest of honour Sano Ngullie also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of empowering women and ensuring their rightful place in decision-making processes.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Yepthomi, President of BJP Nagaland, said the push for 33 percent reservation reflects the commitment to Nari Shakti and inclusive development. He urged women to take the lead in building a stronger and more developed India and Nagaland.
Participants described the torch march as a symbol of unity and determination, reaffirming their commitment to equality, dignity and political rights for women.
