Pakyong, April 30, 2026: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju arrived in Sikkim on Thursday for an official visit, landing at Pakyong Airport before proceeding to a series of scheduled engagements across the state. The visit is expected to focus on developmental initiatives, administrative reviews, and interactions with local stakeholders, particularly in Mangan district.

Rijiju was accompanied by renowned Indian playback singer Mohit Chauhan, adding prominence to the visit. Upon arrival at Pakyong Airport, the Union Minister received a warm welcome from government representatives and dignitaries.
Among those present to receive him were Sonam Lama, Bikash Basnett, Kesang Diki Rechung, Sarika Pradhan, Kabita Sapkota, and Yougan Tamang. The welcoming delegation greeted the minister before he departed for his official engagements.
Several senior officials and public representatives also attended the reception ceremony. These included Sabindra Rai, ML Pradhan, Bishal Sharma, Gagan Gurung, Sujata Subba, and Sushma Pradhan, along with officers from various state government departments and police personnel who coordinated the arrival and security arrangements.
According to officials, Rijiju’s itinerary includes a series of official meetings, interactions with local authorities, and field inspections in Mangan district. The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to review the progress of ongoing development projects and discuss issues relating to infrastructure, public welfare, and regional development.

The Union Minister is also likely to interact with government officials and community representatives to assess the implementation of central government schemes and explore avenues for strengthening cooperation between the Centre and the State Government.

Officials said the visit underscores the Centre’s continued engagement with Sikkim and its commitment to supporting the state's developmental priorities.
The arrival of Kiren Rijiju is expected to further strengthen collaboration between the Union Government and the Government of Sikkim, while providing fresh impetus to developmental initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, governance, and public services across the Himalayan state.
