Gangtok, April 29: The 3rd Edition of the Sikkim Kalakar Sammelan will be held in Gangtok from May 8 to May 9, 2026, bringing together artists, performers, and creative professionals from across the Himalayan state to celebrate Sikkim’s rich artistic heritage and promote the growth of its vibrant cultural community.

The two-day event is being organised under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay and guided by former MLA Krishna Kumari Rai. This year, the Sammelan has been institutionalised under the Art, Culture and Heritage Development Board, Government of Sikkim, reflecting the state government's continued commitment to preserving, promoting, and strengthening Sikkim’s diverse artistic traditions.
The event is expected to provide a common platform for artists, musicians, dancers, actors, filmmakers, writers, photographers, fashion designers, and digital content creators from different districts to interact, showcase their work, and exchange ideas. Participants will also discuss challenges faced by the creative community and explore opportunities for expanding the state's cultural and creative industries.
Officials said the Sammelan aims to encourage collaboration among artists while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and professional development within the cultural sector. Various interactive sessions, cultural performances, panel discussions, and networking opportunities are expected to form part of the programme.

The previous editions of the Sikkim Kalakar Sammelan witnessed enthusiastic participation from the state's artistic fraternity. The gatherings featured discussions on music, theatre, cinema, literature, dance, fashion, visual arts, and digital media, enabling artists to share experiences, voice concerns, and explore ways of transforming creative talent into sustainable careers.
Apart from supporting artists, the Sammelan also seeks to promote cultural tourism and preserve Sikkim’s unique traditions by showcasing the rich cultural diversity of its various communities. Officials believe the event will further strengthen the state's cultural ecosystem while providing emerging artists with valuable exposure and opportunities.
Artists from across Sikkim have been invited to participate in the upcoming edition and contribute towards building a more vibrant, collaborative, and inclusive cultural landscape that reflects the state's rich heritage and creative excellence.
