54th LADC Day Celebrated at Lawngtlai; CEM Calls for Unity, Service and Responsible Governance

Lawngtlai, April 29, 2026: The 54th LADC Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and solemnity at the LADC Hall in Lawngtlai on Wednesday, beginning at 11:30 AM. The programme was attended by leaders of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), community representatives, and council staff.

The event was chaired by Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary of the Lai Autonomous District Council. The programme began with a devotional session led by Rev. H. Lalhmangaiha of LIKBK Chandmary, who offered prayers for the welfare and unity of the Lai people, the continued progress of LADC, and the preservation of Lai identity and culture. Special prayers were also offered for Lai communities across the world and for council employees to serve with sincerity and dedication.

Addressing the gathering, Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council, expressed concern over negative portrayals of the council on social media platforms. He stressed that the existence of LADC is a significant blessing for the Lai people, helping ensure economic stability while protecting their cultural heritage and traditions through structured governance.

Highlighting the importance of peace, the CEM remarked that while many communities across the world had to endure bloodshed and sacrifice to secure self-governance, the Lai people were fortunate to attain autonomy without such hardship. He urged council employees to recognize their roles not merely as a means of livelihood but as a form of service to the nation, the community, and God.

In his message shared during the LADC Day programme, the CEM noted that the occasion served as an opportunity to reaffirm the vision, unity, and aspirations behind the establishment of the Lai Autonomous District Council. Reflecting on the journey of the council, he called upon all stakeholders to renew their commitment to progress and collective development for the welfare of the people.

He emphasized that the District Council should not be seen merely as a place of employment but as an institution of service. Reiterating the guiding principle “Service to man is service to God,” he encouraged all officials and employees to continue working with dedication and integrity.

The CEM also expressed heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme, including officials, staff members, church leaders, choir members, and everyone who took part in the celebration. He concluded by expressing hope that the LADC would continue to progress with unity, peace, and a spirit of commitment to serving the people.

During the programme, Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Chairman of the Lai Autonomous District Council, and Pu Sanghuliana Mualchin, Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Lai Autonomous District Council, also spoke about the council’s functioning and its developmental progress.

The cultural segment featured performances by the LIKBK Assembly Choir, along with solo presentations by noted singers Vanlalzawmpuii Hrahsel and Lalduhsaki. A special offering segment was conducted by Joseph Lalhmingthanga.

As part of the LADC Day observance, several key infrastructure projects undertaken under the leadership of CEM Pu C. Lalsawmzuala were highlighted. These included the improvement of a 1,200-meter road from Chandmary Bus Station/DEO Office to Berema water source, repair of a 100-meter road connecting the Bazar area with Chandmary State Office, and the widening of the road from AOC Mizofed to the District Hospital.

Organizations that contributed significantly to these projects - PWD Lawngtlai Division (Government of Mizoram), ABCI Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., and PMPL-SRC Infrastructure (JV) - were felicitated during the event. The CEM also extended financial support for procuring equipment and other necessary resources for ongoing development works.
