Aizawl, April 29, 2026: The Disaster Management & Rehabilitation (DM&R) Department of Mizoram on Tuesday launched a disaster incident and reporting management system named “Khuarel App” at the Secretariat Conference Hall No. 1, MINECO, Aizawl.

The app was officially launched by DM&R Department Minister Prof. Lalnilawma during a programme jointly organised by the DM&R Department and Buannel Geo Solutions & Services.
Speaking at the launch event, Prof. Lalnilawma said the Khuarel App will enable citizens, the DM&R Department, and the State and District Disaster Management Authorities (SDMA and DDMA) to quickly share information on disaster incidents and maintain properly recorded disaster-related data. He described the initiative as a significant step for Mizoram and noted that the state is among the first in Northeast India to introduce such an advanced disaster reporting application.
The minister also urged the public to download and actively use the Khuarel App, highlighting its simplicity and usefulness in reporting disasters and emergencies.
Commissioner and Secretary of DM&R Udit Prakash Rai also addressed the gathering and explained that the app will allow citizens to instantly report disasters to the DM&R Department and DDMA. At the same time, authorities will be able to quickly disseminate important disaster-related information to the public through the platform.

He added that the application is expected to strengthen disaster response mechanisms and improve coordination among various departments and districts across Mizoram.
During the programme, Buannel Geo Solutions & Services presented a detailed demonstration explaining the features and functioning of the Khuarel App.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pu Chuauhnuna, Director of DM&R.
