Namchi, April 18: A grand Sobha Yatra was organised in Namchi on Friday to herald the commencement of the week-long International Jagni Maha Mahotsav, which is scheduled to begin on April 19. The colourful religious procession witnessed enthusiastic participation from devotees, spiritual leaders, public representatives, and residents, setting a devotional tone for the upcoming spiritual congregation.

The procession began from the premises of Shri Krishna Pranami Mangaldham and travelled through Dalep and Temi Bazar before returning to the dham. Devotees carrying religious flags, chanting hymns, and participating in devotional activities created a vibrant spiritual atmosphere throughout the route, drawing the attention of local residents and visitors alike.
The Sobha Yatra was led by Mahanta Shree 108 Sudakar Maharaj Ji and Mataji Vidushi Usha Ghimirey, who guided the devotees during the procession and offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and harmony. Their presence added spiritual significance to the event as followers from different parts of Sikkim and neighbouring states gathered to participate in the celebrations.
Several dignitaries also joined the procession, including Zilla Adhakshya of Namchi Anjeeta Rajalim, Chairman of the Science and Technology Board N. T. Bhutia, former MLA G. M. Gurung, and OSD to the MLA of Temi–Namphing Constituency, Pradeen Tamang. Their participation reflected the importance of the Mahotsav as a major spiritual and cultural event in the region.
A large number of devotees from across Sikkim and neighbouring regions took part in the yatra, demonstrating strong spiritual fervour and communal harmony. The event highlighted the state's tradition of peaceful coexistence and respect for diverse religious and cultural practices.
Officials informed that the International Jagni Maha Mahotsav will bring together renowned spiritual leaders and devotees from different parts of India and neighbouring countries. The week-long programme will feature religious discourses, devotional gatherings, cultural programmes, and spiritual interactions aimed at promoting peace, moral values, and social harmony.

The Mahotsav will be addressed by renowned spiritual leader Shri Krishnamaniji Maharajshri of Nawatanpuridham, Jamnagar, Gujarat, who will attend as the principal speaker. His spiritual discourses are expected to attract a large gathering of devotees throughout the event.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) is also scheduled to attend the inaugural session of the Mahotsav on April 19, underscoring the significance of the event in Sikkim's cultural and spiritual calendar.
Organisers said the International Jagni Maha Mahotsav is expected to strengthen spiritual dialogue, foster cultural exchange, and spread the message of unity, compassion, and harmony among people from diverse backgrounds. The successful conduct of the Sobha Yatra has set the stage for what is expected to be one of the state's prominent spiritual gatherings of the year.
