Imphal, April 18: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Saturday stated that the law and order situation in the state remains sensitive but is under control, following a detailed security briefing by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) at the Manipur Secretariat.

The Chief Minister said that the state government, in coordination with security agencies, is closely monitoring the prevailing situation to ensure peace and stability across Manipur. He noted that security forces have been instructed to respond to any disturbance with utmost care, restraint, and professionalism while safeguarding the lives and property of the people.
According to Khemchand, maintaining normalcy remains the government's highest priority. He emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent any escalation of tension and to ensure that public safety is not compromised. The briefing by the Inspector General focused on the current security scenario, deployment of forces, and ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in vulnerable areas.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the public to exercise caution and avoid believing or sharing rumours and unverified information circulating on social media and other platforms. Reaffirming the government's commitment to justice, Khemchand assured the people that all incidents would be dealt with in accordance with the law. He said that appropriate action would be taken against those responsible for any unlawful activities while ensuring that due legal process is followed.
The state government and security agencies have once again appealed for the cooperation of all sections of society in preserving peace and communal harmony. Authorities stressed that public support, responsible communication, and vigilance against misinformation are essential to maintaining stability and restoring normalcy throughout Manipur.
