In a statement issued on Sunday, Thapa said the historic legislation reflects the nation's unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, gender equality, and the empowerment of women. She noted that the Act represents a transformative step towards ensuring that women have a stronger voice in shaping public policy and contributing to the country's development.

Highlighting the significance of the legislation, the Deputy Speaker said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam marks a proud chapter in India's democratic journey by creating greater opportunities for women to assume leadership roles at various levels of governance. She observed that enhanced representation of women in legislative bodies would not only strengthen democratic institutions but also ensure that governance becomes more inclusive, balanced, and responsive to the aspirations of society.

Thapa said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the enactment of the legislation represents an important milestone in India's vision of women-led development. She added that empowering women through meaningful political representation would contribute to stronger institutions and more equitable policymaking while inspiring greater participation of women in public life.

The Deputy Speaker also expressed her appreciation for the efforts of Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) in promoting women's empowerment across the state. She noted that the Sikkim Government has consistently introduced initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for women, encouraging their participation in governance, and strengthening their role in social, economic, and developmental sectors.

According to Thapa, the state's continued focus on women's welfare and empowerment has enabled many women to emerge as leaders in public service, education, entrepreneurship, and community development.
