Gangtok, April 27, 2026: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting the state despite his demanding schedule, describing the Prime Minister’s presence as a special occasion and a blessing for the people of Sikkim.

In a statement issued following the Prime Minister’s arrival, Tamang-Golay thanked Modi for travelling from Kolkata to Gangtok and for taking time out of his busy engagements to visit the Himalayan state. He said the visit reflected the Prime Minister’s affection and commitment towards the people of Sikkim and added that his presence had brought immense joy to citizens across the state.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his sincere appreciation to the thousands of people who gathered from different parts of Sikkim early in the morning to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to the Prime Minister. He said the overwhelming public response demonstrated the unity, hospitality, and respect of the people of Sikkim.
Tamang-Golay thanked office bearers and members of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with their various frontal organisations, including the Nari Wing, Youth Wing, Students Wing, Sports Wing, Contractor Wing, and Culture Wing, for their active participation in making the event a success.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, ministers, MLAs, advisors, chairpersons, political secretaries, and other dignitaries of the Government of Sikkim. The Chief Minister further expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, officers of various government departments, police personnel, emergency services, and officials from the Government of India for ensuring smooth coordination and security during the Prime Minister’s visit.
In addition, Tamang-Golay thanked NGOs, social and spiritual organisations, representatives of Sikkim’s 21 communities, ex-servicemen, students, sportspersons, retired government employees, ASHA workers, Self-Help Groups, and Anganwadi workers for their enthusiastic participation.
The Chief Minister also invited citizens to attend Prime Minister Modi’s public programme at Paljor Stadium on April 28, urging people to assemble by 8:00 AM to witness and listen to the Prime Minister’s address.
