Sikkim CM Meets Participants of ‘Women on Wheels’ Initiative

Gangtok, April 22: Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday met Smt. Tshering Doma Sherpa and Smt. Sonam Sherpa at his official residence ahead of their participation in the Women on Wheels (Experience North-East), Season 4 programme.

The two participants, along with Smt. Ranjeeta Thapa, will take part in the initiative scheduled from April 24 to May 3, 2026.

Women on Wheels is a unique programme aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, independence, and confidence through driving and travel. The initiative brings together women from across the country to explore different regions of the Northeast while encouraging road safety awareness and greater participation of women in mobility and adventure activities.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister appreciated the participants for taking part in the initiative and highlighted the importance of encouraging women to break traditional barriers and actively engage in new opportunities.

Tamang also reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting women’s initiatives and empowering them to participate in diverse fields.
