New Delhi, April 22: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss several key road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and accelerating development across the frontier state.

The meeting was attended by Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao, who joined discussions on a range of ongoing and proposed road projects requiring intervention and support from the Union Ministry. The leaders deliberated on infrastructure priorities critical to enhancing transportation networks, particularly in remote and strategically important regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to Khandu, the discussions focused on projects that would strengthen road connectivity, improve accessibility, and facilitate socio-economic development in various parts of the state. Given Arunachal Pradesh’s challenging terrain and vast geographical expanse, road infrastructure remains one of the most important components of development planning and regional integration.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the discussions, stating that Union Minister Gadkari responded positively to the issues raised and assured support for the state's infrastructure needs. Khandu said the Union Minister promptly addressed concerns relating to key projects and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to improving road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his gratitude to Gadkari on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh for the continued support extended by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He noted that the Centre’s sustained investment in road infrastructure has significantly contributed to improving accessibility in several remote districts and border areas.

Khandu emphasized that better road connectivity is crucial not only for economic development but also for enhancing access to healthcare, education, trade, tourism, and government services. Improved transportation networks, he said, would help bridge developmental gaps and create new opportunities for people living in far-flung regions.
The meeting comes at a time when Arunachal Pradesh is witnessing a major push in infrastructure development, with several national highway and strategic road projects underway. Officials believe that closer coordination between the state government and the Union Ministry will help expedite the implementation of critical projects and further strengthen connectivity across the state.
The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of both the Centre and the state government to improving infrastructure and fostering inclusive development in Arunachal Pradesh.
