Senvon, April 17: In a significant boost to banking infrastructure and financial inclusion in Manipur's Pherzawl district, Punjab National Bank (PNB) inaugurated its new branch at Senvon on Friday, providing residents with easier access to essential banking services. The new branch becomes only the second banking facility in the district, marking a major milestone in expanding financial services to one of the state's remote regions.

The branch was formally inaugurated by Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl, Mannuamching, Upendra Kumar, Circle Head, Punjab National Bank, Imphal, senior bank officials, local leaders, and residents.
Speaking at the inauguration, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of expanding banking services to rural and underserved areas. They noted that the establishment of the Senvon branch would significantly reduce the hardship faced by local residents, who previously had to travel long distances to access basic banking facilities such as opening accounts, depositing or withdrawing money, and availing financial services.
With the new branch now operational, customers from Senvon and neighbouring villages will be able to access a comprehensive range of banking services, including savings and current accounts, fixed and recurring deposits, remittance services, digital banking facilities, and other financial products offered by Punjab National Bank. The branch is also expected to facilitate access to government welfare schemes, direct benefit transfers, and credit facilities for farmers, entrepreneurs, and self-help groups.

Officials said the new branch would play a vital role in strengthening financial inclusion by bringing modern banking services closer to rural communities.
