Imphal, April 13: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday said that the overall situation in the state has improved considerably and reaffirmed that ensuring the safety, security, and peaceful coexistence of all communities remains the State Government's highest priority.
The Chief Minister made the remarks after Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, called on him at the Secretariat in Imphal for a high-level review of the prevailing law and order situation and ongoing security measures across the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister and the Assam Rifles chief held detailed discussions on the current security scenario, measures taken to maintain peace, and the coordination between various security agencies operating in Manipur. They also reviewed the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and strengthen public confidence following the prolonged period of unrest in the state.
Khemchand Singh noted that the overall law and order situation has shown significant improvement due to the coordinated efforts of the State Government, central security forces, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other agencies working together to maintain peace and stability. He appreciated the role played by the security forces in creating a more secure environment and ensuring that normal life is gradually returning in many parts of the state.

The Chief Minister emphasised that every decision taken by the government has been guided by the need to safeguard the lives, property, and interests of all communities without discrimination. He stated that comprehensive measures have been implemented to strengthen the security framework, prevent further violence, and promote confidence among the people.
Highlighting the government's long-term approach, Khemchand Singh said sustained peace can be achieved only through cooperation, mutual understanding, and inclusive development. He reiterated the government's commitment to protecting every citizen, fostering communal harmony, and creating conditions that support reconciliation and lasting stability.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming the importance of continued coordination between the civil administration and security agencies to maintain law and order, strengthen public safety, and support the government's efforts to ensure peace, development, and the overall well-being of the people of Manipur.
