Aizawl, April 17: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) on Thursday flagged off a Basic Life Support Ambulance procured under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of NBCC (India) Ltd. The ambulance will serve Silsury village, located along the Indo–Bangladesh border in Mamit Aspirational District. The brief ceremony was held at the Upper Lawn of Lok Bhavan in Aizawl.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasised the importance of balanced development, particularly in international and state border areas. He noted that residents of such regions often face limited access to essential services and infrastructure. Appreciating NBCC (India) Ltd. for donating the well-equipped ambulance, he said it would significantly strengthen healthcare access for people living in remote border villages.
The Governor also commended NBCC for its dynamic work in infrastructure development and encouraged the company to utilise its expertise and advanced technologies to improve living standards in smaller states like Mizoram. Highlighting the Central Government’s focus on Aspirational Districts, he urged NBCC to continue prioritising projects that benefit border communities.
Dr. R. Lalthangliana, MLA of Dampa Assembly Constituency, described the ambulance as a valuable addition for Silsury and nearby villages in Mamit district. He thanked NBCC for the initiative and expressed hope that the facility would greatly benefit the local community.
The programme was chaired by Gyanaranjan Samal, CGM and Head of the North East Region of NBCC, who outlined the company’s initiatives and achievements in the region. Debasish Satapathy, Executive Director (HRM) and Head of CSR at NBCC, also spoke at the event and assured continued support for CSR projects in Mizoram.

Among those present were Ajit Roy, Secretary to the Governor, Suvigya S. Chandra, Deputy Commissioner of Mamit district, senior NBCC officials, and representatives from Silsury village.
NBCC (India) Ltd., a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has been actively involved in infrastructure development projects across the country. In Mizoram, the company has completed 98 km of the 189 km Indo–Bangladesh border fencing project, while the remaining work is underway in Lawngtlai district. Recently, NBCC also handed over 55 km of border fencing and five Border Outposts (BOPs) in the Dampa Tiger Reserve area of Mamit district.
