The directive, issued on April 20, follows an earlier order from the Directorate of School Education Mizoram regarding the introduction of Mizo as a compulsory subject in CADC schools.
According to the notification, every school must designate one working day each week when both students and staff are encouraged to communicate in the Mizo language within the school campus.

Officials said the initiative aims to address the challenges faced by Chakma students in learning Mizo and to create a more practical environment for language practice. By encouraging regular use of the language, authorities hope to improve students’ confidence, fluency, and overall proficiency.
Education officials believe the weekly speaking exercise will help promote better understanding of the language while strengthening communication skills among students studying in CADC-run schools.
