Speaking at the inauguration of the Piggman franchise store “Tender Hygienic Pork” by Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd. at the CANSSEA Building in Kohima, Kikon noted that Nagaland currently relies on outside sources for nearly 50 per cent of its estimated daily pork requirement of about 64,000 kg.
The outlet was inaugurated in the presence of franchise partner Sentiyala Panger of Renjet Enterprise and Manoj Kumar Basumatary, among others. The store offers a variety of hygienically processed pork products including curry cuts, spare ribs, pork ham boneless, Boston butt, pork chops, pork intestines and other innards.
Congratulating the promoters, Kikon described the venture as a strong example of entrepreneurship in a sector with high demand. He encouraged Naga youth to explore business opportunities, noting that employment prospects in the government sector have largely reached saturation.
Providing an overview of the brand, Basumatary said Piggman focuses on traceability, scientific pig rearing, vaccination protocols and quality-controlled production. He assured that the pork products are processed under hygienic conditions without preservatives or artificial colourants.
Basumatary added that the franchise model aims to support local entrepreneurs, including women, by enabling them to tap into Nagaland’s large pork market with brand support and scientific breeding assistance. The company has already established 11 outlets across Assam and Nagaland and plans to expand further across the Northeast.
