Tura, April 23: The Office of the Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, West Garo Hills, has announced that a mock exercise on Air Raid and Blackout will be conducted in Tura town on April 24, 2026, as part of the state-wide civil defence exercise “ARMEX-I 2026.”
The exercise aims to enhance public preparedness and strengthen emergency response mechanisms among citizens and authorities.
According to officials, the drill will be conducted in two phases - from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 7:02 PM - across various localities and educational institutions within the Tura Municipal area.

During the exercise, air raid sirens will be sounded, and residents are expected to cooperate with authorities by following instructions, including observing blackout procedures during the evening session.
Authorities have urged the public not to panic, clarifying that the exercise is only a simulation designed to raise awareness and improve disaster management capabilities among the public and response agencies.
