Dr. Nath shares the prestigious recognition with 376 scientists from across the globe, including around 11 Indian researchers, for their collective contributions to the landmark Muon g−2 experiments conducted at CERN, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Fermilab. The experiments have made significant advances in the field of particle physics by providing deeper insights into the behaviour of subatomic particles and challenging aspects of the Standard Model of Physics.

His achievement is particularly significant for the Northeast, as Dr. Nath has become the first scientist from the region to receive the Breakthrough Prize in this category. He is also the only Indian awardee currently living and working in India, making the honour even more remarkable.

To celebrate the milestone, Tihu College organised a felicitation ceremony where Principal Dr. Suresh Bharali honoured Dr. Nath with a traditional phulam gamocha on behalf of the institution. Faculty members, students, and staff congratulated him for bringing international recognition to the college and inspiring young scholars to pursue excellence in scientific research.
