Imphal, April 14: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday conducted an on-site review of the ongoing construction works at Imphal Railway Station, assessing the progress of one of the state's most significant infrastructure projects aimed at improving rail connectivity and boosting economic development.

The inspection was attended by several MLAs, the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner (Home), senior officials from the State Government, and representatives of the implementing agencies. During the visit, officials presented detailed updates on the status of construction, while the Chief Minister personally inspected various sections of the project to evaluate the pace and quality of work.
Reviewing the progress, Khemchand Singh observed that the overall execution of the project was satisfactory and appreciated the efforts made by the agencies involved. However, he stressed the need to further accelerate the pace of construction to ensure that the railway station is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Chief Minister directed all concerned departments and implementing agencies to strengthen coordination and work in close collaboration to avoid unnecessary delays. He also instructed officials to maintain strict quality control measures throughout the construction process, emphasising that the project should meet the highest engineering and safety standards while ensuring long-term durability.
During the review, the Chief Minister highlighted the strategic importance of the Imphal Railway Station project, stating that it would serve as a major milestone in integrating Manipur with the national railway network. He noted that improved rail connectivity would facilitate the movement of passengers and goods, reduce transportation costs, enhance trade and tourism, and create new opportunities for economic growth across the state.

Officials informed the Chief Minister about the current status of the project and outlined the remaining phases of construction, assuring him that efforts are being made to meet the scheduled completion targets.
The State Government described the railway station as a landmark infrastructure initiative that will significantly enhance regional connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Manipur. Once operational, the project is expected to improve access to markets, promote investment, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen the state's integration with the rest of the country.
