Imphal, April 14: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday attended the Khalsa Sajna Diwas celebration organised on the occasion of Baisakhi at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Imphal, joining members of the Sikh community in commemorating one of the most significant festivals in Sikhism.

The programme was attended by MLA Kh. Joykishan Singh, religious leaders, members of the Sikh community, and other dignitaries. The event marked the historic formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699, a defining moment in Sikh history that symbolises faith, courage, equality, and selfless service.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh described the celebration as a spiritually enriching and uplifting experience. He said the devotional kirtans, prayers, and the atmosphere of collective worship inspired reflection on the timeless values of compassion, peace, and service to humanity. He remarked that such religious gatherings strengthen social harmony by bringing people together in a spirit of unity and mutual respect.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Khalsa Sajna Diwas serves as a reminder of the enduring principles of Sikhism, including selfless service (seva), equality, courage, justice, and dedication to the welfare of society. He noted that these values remain relevant in contemporary times and continue to inspire people to work towards building a peaceful and inclusive society.

Khemchand Singh also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Sikh community to Manipur's social, cultural, and economic development. Extending his warm greetings on the occasion of Baisakhi, the Chief Minister wished the Sikh community happiness, prosperity, and good health. He expressed hope that the festival would bring renewed peace, harmony, and progress to Manipur while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood among people of all communities.
The celebration concluded with prayers for peace and the well-being of the people, reaffirming the shared commitment to unity, mutual respect, and the values of compassion and service that lie at the heart of both the festival and the state's diverse cultural heritage.
