In a press statement issued on April 14, organisations including the Kuki Chiefs Association, Molnoi Area Welfare Council, Hill Tribal Council Moreh, Kuki Students Organisation and Kuki Women Union & Human Rights said the continued communal rhetoric has deepened divisions between communities.

The groups specifically referred to slogans such as “Kuki Tumna Hatlo/Hatse (Let’s annihilate all the Kukis)” and “Give our arms back to annihilate the Kukis in five days,” claiming that such statements circulating in the valley reflect growing hostility and have reinforced their demand for a separate administrative arrangement for the Kuki-Zo people.

The statement further declared non-cooperation with Meitei government representatives in Tengnoupal district and called for strict maintenance of buffer zones to prevent further escalation of tensions.

At the same time, the organisations appreciated the role of central security forces in maintaining buffer zones and helping restore a degree of normalcy. They also demanded the continued deployment of central forces in hill areas and across all buffer zones in the district. The groups said the Kuki-Zo people of Tengnoupal remain united in pursuing their demand for separate administration.
