Imphal, April 9: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Tuesday held meetings with several civil society organisations at the state secretariat to discuss the recent Tronglaobi incident and the prevailing situation in Manipur.
The meeting was attended by representatives of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Meitei Students Federation (MSF), Poirei Leimarol, Committee on Human Rights (COHR), and All Manipur Women’s Association Welfare Organisation (AMAWOVA). The discussions were held in the presence of Home Minister K. Govindas Singh and other legislators.
During the meeting, representatives raised several concerns regarding the recent violence. The Chief Minister acknowledged the issues and described the Tronglaobi incident as deeply unfortunate, noting that it had disrupted ongoing peace-building efforts in the state.
Khemchand said the government has taken the matter seriously and is maintaining close coordination with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the situation. He assured that those responsible for the incident would be identified and dealt with strictly according to law.

In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister also interacted with representatives of Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup (BAAL), who submitted a memorandum outlining their concerns regarding the unrest.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is taking firm and time-bound measures, in accordance with constitutional provisions, to restore normalcy and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to law and order, Khemchand appealed to civil society organisations and the public to cooperate in efforts to restore peace and stability in Manipur.
