Manipur: Big Arms Recovery in Kangpokpi and Kamjong During Security Sweep

Imphal, April 13: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives during search operations in Kangpokpi and Kamjong districts of Manipur, according to Manipur Police.

On April 13, security personnel recovered several items from between Tingpibung and Leplen villages under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The recovered items included five country-made bolt-action single-barrel firearms, three pumpi guns, one No. 36 hand grenade, two 7.62 mm live rounds, 50 empty cartridge cases of different calibers and two radio sets with a charger.

Earlier, on April 11, another recovery was made from the BP-115 area under Chassad Police Station in Kamjong district. During the operation, security forces seized two AK-47 rifles with magazines, one .22 rifle, 16 mortar bombs, six RPG rounds, five grenades, 461 live rounds of ammunition of different calibers and 14 twelve-bore cartridges.

Police said the recoveries were made during ongoing search and area domination operations aimed at maintaining law and order and preventing the misuse of illegal arms in the region.

Security forces have intensified combing operations in sensitive areas to curb the circulation of illegal weapons and ensure public safety.
