Residents of Nagaram Village and Tangkhul Avenue Village jointly organised a protest at Dinku Road in Khuman Lampak, strongly denouncing the killing of what they described as innocent and unarmed civilians. Protesters displayed banners condemning the attack, which reportedly occurred near TM Kasom along the Imphal–Ukhrul road when suspected militants opened fire on civilian vehicles.

Another protest was staged in front of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Chingmeirong in Imphal West, where demonstrators demanded justice for the victims of the April 18 ambush near TM Kashom. Participants also raised concerns over the earlier Tronglaobi incident on April 7 that claimed the lives of two minors.

Meanwhile, the All Manipur Bar Association, in collaboration with the High Court Bar Association of Manipur, organised a sit-in protest condemning the killing of civilians in Ukhrul district.

Speaking to reporters, a spokesperson of the All Manipur Bar Association expressed anguish over what he termed the failure of the Manipur government to curb repeated militant attacks on civilians. He alleged that the prevailing situation has created an atmosphere of lawlessness, restricting the freedom of movement of people to areas such as Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Moreh.

Former Chairman of the Manipur State Human Rights Commission, Khaidem Mani, also condemned the incident and called for decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice. He urged the authorities to conduct large-scale combing operations against militant groups and demanded a judicial inquiry into the deaths of three civilians reportedly killed in alleged firing by security forces near Gelmol.

The protests highlighted growing public concern over the recent surge in violence and called on authorities to restore peace, ensure the safety of civilians, and uphold the rule of law in the state.
