| Representatives of Zoram Thar address a press conference in Aizawl, clarifying that the proposed Zofate Pathian Biak Inpui is not a new church denomination. |
Addressing a press conference at the Aizawl Press Club, members of the organization explained that the project is not meant to function as a separate church congregation. Instead, it is envisioned as a large place of worship and a spiritual landmark expected to attract visitors from around the world.
They stated that since the proposed structure is planned to be among the largest church buildings globally, it will also serve as a place where Zo people can share the Christian gospel with visitors and tourists.
The organization further clarified that the Zoram Thar Zofate Lairelna Inpui has been registered as a non-governmental organization under the Registrar of Firms and Societies. According to the group, membership is open to all Zo people, and no separate membership recruitment process has been introduced. However, a number of leaders and executive members have been appointed to oversee administrative matters.
Responding to a recent statement issued by the Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod, Zoram Thar leaders said that the project does not aim to replace or compete with existing church congregations. They added that although the Synod has expressed reservations about the initiative, they hold no resentment and remain hopeful that the project will ultimately serve as a tool for advancing God’s work.
The organization reiterated that the proposed worship centre is intended to belong to all Zo people globally and not to any specific church group or denomination.
