All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union Moves to Adopt Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat

Itanagar, April 20: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union has decided to voluntarily adopt Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat in a move aimed at supporting the development and welfare of one of the state’s oldest higher education institutions.

In a letter addressed to Pasang Dorjee Sona, AAPSU formally informed the state government of its decision and sought necessary approval to proceed with the initiative.

Established in 1964, Jawaharlal Nehru College in Pasighat is regarded as one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh. The college has played a significant role in shaping the socio-economic and educational landscape of the state, producing generations of students over the decades.

According to AAPSU, the initiative aims to address ongoing challenges faced by the institution, including issues related to infrastructure, faculty strength, hostel facilities and other academic resources.

The students’ union stated that the decision reflects its continued commitment to strengthening the higher education system in Arunachal Pradesh while supporting institutions that have historically contributed to the development of the state.

AAPSU leaders also urged the state government and relevant authorities to expedite the necessary formalities to enable the adoption process at the earliest. The organisation expressed hope that collaborative efforts would help improve facilities, enhance academic standards and ensure better opportunities for students at the institution.
