CM Conrad Sangma Inaugurates Nabon Memorial Home in Mawïong Rim

Shillong, April 11: Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday inaugurated the Nabon Memorial Home at Mawïong Rim, a facility dedicated to providing shelter and care for destitute and abandoned women.

The Home aims to serve as a sanctuary offering safety, dignity, and compassionate support for women in need within the community. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister announced that ₹25 lakh will be sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) to support the functioning and development of the Home.

Sangma also commended the initiative of the Jingiaseng Kynthei Shillong Ri-Lum Presbytery and the Shillong Ri-Lum Presbytery for establishing the facility and working towards the welfare of vulnerable women.

The Home has been named after Ka Nabon, remembered as the first Christian woman to embrace the faith in the Khasi Hills. Sangma said the naming is a fitting tribute reflecting courage, faith, and service.

He congratulated the organisers for their noble initiative and acknowledged their continued efforts in uplifting the community through compassion and service.
