Kohima, April 11: Nagaland is set to create history as Kohima prepares to host the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Athletics Federation of India on April 14 and 15, 2026.
The meeting will be hosted by the Nagaland Athletics Association and will mark the first-ever Annual General Meeting of a National Sports Federation to be held in Nagaland, bringing together delegates and sports administrators from across the country.
Announcing the development, Abu Metha, Adviser to Chief Minister described the event as a historic milestone for the state and the Northeast region. He said the gathering in Kohima will highlight Nagaland’s growing role in the national sports landscape.
The event is expected to provide a platform for discussions on the development of athletics in India while also showcasing Nagaland’s hospitality and its capacity to host national-level sporting events.
Hosting the AGM in Kohima is also seen as an opportunity to promote the state - often called the “Land of Festivals” - and further strengthen sports engagement in the region.
