Tura, April 17: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday inaugurated the Sonagre–Jijikapara Bridge over River Bugi and the widening of the Kujikura–Dimapara Road at Jijikapara in West Garo Hills district, addressing long-standing connectivity challenges in the region.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the infrastructure projects would significantly improve connectivity and enhance access to essential services, markets and economic opportunities for residents of West and South Garo Hills. He noted that the projects would benefit thousands of people by making transportation easier and strengthening links between remote villages and major centres.
Sangma reiterated that the state government remains committed to ensuring inclusive development by improving infrastructure and connectivity across all regions of Meghalaya.

Earlier, the Chief Minister was also felicitated by the staff and Managing Committee of Babelapara Higher Secondary School, along with members of the All Meghalaya Upper Primary and Secondary School Deficit Pattern School Teachers Association, for the government’s landmark decision to introduce the Structured Pay Framework (SPF) for fixed-pay teachers.
He said the reform aims to establish a transparent, equitable and sustainable remuneration system while improving social security, service conditions and administrative efficiency within the school education sector.
Expressing gratitude for the honour, Sangma thanked the teachers for their dedication and continued service to students and communities across Meghalaya.
