Jalukie, April 17: Nand Kishore Yadav attended the Xavierite Academic Closing Day for the academic session 2025–2026 at St. Xavier College Jalukie in Jalukie on Thursday.

Addressing students, faculty members and parents at the college auditorium, the Governor congratulated the institution for successfully completing the academic year and praised its role in shaping responsible citizens with strong values, discipline and a spirit of service.
Describing the occasion as both a moment of reflection and celebration, he said the academic year reflected the hard work, perseverance and achievements of students. He emphasized that the true purpose of education goes beyond marks and degrees, highlighting the importance of character building, compassion, leadership and service to society.
Expressing confidence in the youth of Nagaland, the Governor said the state’s young generation possesses immense talent, creativity and potential across diverse fields. He encouraged students to strive for excellence with humility and integrity, adding that knowledge should always be guided by wisdom and a commitment to humanity.
T. R. Zeliang, who also addressed the gathering, appreciated the Governor’s visit and highlighted the important role played by St. Xavier College as the only private higher education institution in Peren district. He noted the college’s high student enrollment and the trust placed in it by the local community.
Zeliang commended the institution for maintaining affordable education, promoting academic excellence and producing university toppers. He also praised initiatives such as the Earn and Learn programme and Payback Award, which encourage self-reliance among students.
He further highlighted the importance of vocational courses and skill training in improving employability and lauded the college’s sports infrastructure that has enabled students to represent the state and nation in various competitions.

The Deputy Chief Minister also noted the college’s achievements, including its NAAC Grade A accreditation with a CGPA of 3.12, and recognition through awards such as the NSS National Award and the Governor’s Commendation Certificate. He also acknowledged student participation in national events like the National Youth Parliament, Republic Day Parade, National Games and Archery Championships.
The programme began with the National Song and National Anthem and featured cultural performances, including a tribal tune by Japuvino and Paisuingaulule and a fusion dance by the Cultural Club. The commissioning of Sadbhavana Projects was also held during the event.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Pauziulung, followed by a photo session, a drone show and the “Know Your Army” awareness campaign conducted by Assam Rifles.
