Aizawl, April 14: Leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mizoram held a press briefing at Aizawl Press Club to discuss the implementation and significance of the Women’s Reservation Act, 2023, also known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

Addressing the media, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Convener and BJP Mizoram State Joint Treasurer Lalremsangi Fanai said the legislation is a landmark step towards strengthening the rights and dignity of women. She stated that the Act aims to empower women and enhance their participation in governance and decision-making.
Fanai noted that under the leadership of the NDA-BJP government, India has entered a new phase of development, with the long-awaited Women’s Reservation Bill finally being passed by Parliament.

The Act, formally known as the Constitution (108th Amendment) Act, 2023, provides for one-third reservation of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. She also highlighted that the Bill was among the first major legislations passed in the new Parliament building.
BJP leaders said the legislation marks a significant milestone in ensuring greater representation of women in politics and strengthening democratic participation across the country.
