Arunachal: ₹196.44 Crore Development Projects Launched in Siang District

Siang, April 14: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday launched and inaugurated a series of development projects worth ₹196.44 crore in Siang district, reaffirming the state government's commitment to strengthening infrastructure, public services, and socio-economic development in the region.

Describing the initiatives as a major step forward for the district, Khandu said the projects are aimed at improving connectivity, education, public safety, administrative efficiency, and community welfare. The programme witnessed the laying of foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects and the inauguration of completed facilities that are expected to benefit thousands of residents across the district.

Among the major projects for which foundation stones were laid are accommodation facilities for government employees in Siang district, a traditional Dere (community hall) at New Hiram Riga, a dedicated Women Police Station building at Pangin, and a multi-purpose cultural hall at Pegging Botte in Riga. These projects are expected to enhance administrative functioning while also promoting cultural and community activities.

The Chief Minister also launched a number of educational and residential infrastructure projects, including hostel buildings and academic facilities at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Pangin, staff quarters for teachers and government personnel, and boundary walls for school hostels. In addition, township roads at Boleng and Pangin will be developed under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive State Road Development Programme-II (CMCSRDP-II).

Road connectivity received significant attention under the development package. Key projects include the construction of the Yibuk-Lising Road (Phase-I) and improvement of roads within district headquarters townships, which are expected to improve transportation and accessibility in remote areas.

As part of the inauguration programme, Khandu dedicated several completed projects to the public, including the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Pangin, a double-lane cement concrete pavement road connecting BRTF Rengo Road to the District Hospital in Boleng, a 70-metre Bailey Bridge over the Subbung River on the Dosing-Pareng-Yibuk road, and a newly constructed Fire Station at Boleng (Rengo).

Officials said the projects will significantly strengthen the district's infrastructure network while improving access to education, healthcare, emergency services, and government facilities. The initiatives are also expected to generate employment opportunities and support long-term development in Siang district.

The Chief Minister emphasized that balanced and inclusive development remains a priority for the state government and expressed confidence that the projects would contribute to improving the quality of life for people across the district.
