In a statement on social media, Singh referred to a recent operation on April 14, when a joint team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Assam Rifles, and the Manipur Airport Police seized 6.74 kg of suspected brown sugar at the airport. One person, identified as Md. Sabir Ahamed from Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong in Bishnupur district, was arrested in connection with the case.

Singh also cited an earlier incident on February 27, when security forces intercepted 4.80 kg of heroin and arrested two individuals from Madhya Pradesh - Suresh (32) and Vijay Singh (28) - just before they boarded a flight.

While praising the security forces for their vigilance and successful seizures, the former Chief Minister questioned how such large consignments of narcotics were reaching the airport undetected.

He called for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the repeated attempts to smuggle drugs through the airport, raising concerns about whether vulnerabilities within the system may be enabling such activities.
