Haflong, February 17: In a significant development for the retail sector in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, on Tuesday inaugurated a new outlet of Vishal Mega Mart at Boro Haflong. The launch marks the entry of one of India’s leading value retail chains into the hill district, offering residents greater access to a wide range of affordable consumer products.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Executive Member Shri Paudaming Nriame, Member of the Autonomous Council (MAC) Shri Noah Daime, local officials, business representatives, and residents. The event was welcomed as a milestone in the district’s commercial development and an important step toward expanding organised retail services in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Debolal Gorlosa said the opening of the new Vishal Mega Mart outlet would not only improve shopping options for local consumers but also create employment opportunities for the youth of Dima Hasao. He expressed confidence that the retail chain would contribute to the district’s economic growth by generating direct and indirect jobs while making quality products available at competitive prices.
Gorlosa noted that the establishment of a nationally recognised retail brand in Haflong reflects the district’s growing economic potential and improving business environment. He added that such investments are essential for promoting balanced development and attracting more private enterprises to the region.
The newly opened Vishal Mega Mart offers a wide selection of products, including clothing, footwear, household items, kitchenware, groceries, personal care products, and other daily essentials. Residents are expected to benefit from greater access to branded merchandise and value-for-money shopping without having to travel to larger cities.
