According to a travel advisory issued by Chumlamo Humtsoe (NCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner of Satakha, the section of NH-702A between Zhekiye village and Sukhai village will remain closed to all vehicular traffic with immediate effect until March 15, 2026. The restriction has been imposed to ensure the safe, smooth, and uninterrupted execution of road construction activities being carried out along the stretch between Zhekiye and the strategically important Tizu Bridge.
Officials stated that the temporary closure is necessary to allow construction agencies to undertake extensive road improvement works without disruption from traffic movement. The project is expected to enhance the condition of the highway, improve transportation efficiency, and strengthen connectivity between various parts of Zunheboto district and neighbouring areas.
National Highway 702A serves as an important transportation corridor for residents, traders, transport operators, and travellers in the region. The road is frequently used for the movement of goods, agricultural produce, and essential supplies, making the ongoing upgrade project significant for the district's long-term economic and social development.
To minimise inconvenience to the public during the closure period, the district administration has advised commuters to use the Satakha–Xuivi–Sukhai route and vice versa as an alternative travel corridor. Motorists, commercial vehicle operators, and public transport services have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities.
The administration has also appealed to citizens to cooperate with officials and construction agencies throughout the duration of the project. Authorities noted that while the temporary closure may cause inconvenience to daily commuters and travellers, the long-term benefits of improved road infrastructure would significantly outweigh the short-term disruptions.
Officials further emphasised that the road improvement works form part of broader efforts to strengthen transportation infrastructure in Nagaland, particularly in remote and rural areas where road connectivity plays a crucial role in socio-economic development. Improved highways are expected to facilitate easier access to markets, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and government services.
The district administration expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the public and sought patience and understanding from road users. It reiterated its commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the project and restoring normal traffic movement as soon as the construction works are completed.

Residents and travellers have been advised to stay updated through official notifications regarding any further changes or developments related to the road closure.
