Aizawl, February 3: In a significant step towards strengthening the digital presence of the Mizo language, the Mizo Language Development Board (MLDB) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LushAI Technologies & Consulting Pvt. Ltd. to jointly work on improving the quality and accuracy of Mizo translations on Google Translate and other digital platforms.
The agreement was signed under the leadership of MLDB Chairman R. Lallianzuala, marking a new phase in efforts to promote the use of Mizo in modern technology and artificial intelligence-driven applications. The collaboration aims to address shortcomings identified in the current translation system and enhance the overall quality of Mizo language resources available online.
According to officials, the partnership will focus on refining translation outputs, improving linguistic accuracy, and ensuring that digital translations better reflect authentic Mizo grammar, vocabulary, and usage. Both MLDB and LushAI Technologies will work together to identify translation errors, review language datasets, and develop more reliable language tools for users.
Speaking on the occasion, R. Lallianzuala emphasized the importance of embracing technology to preserve and promote indigenous languages in an increasingly digital world. He noted that the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and online communication platforms makes it essential for the Mizo language to have a strong and accurate presence in global digital ecosystems.
He said the initiative would benefit students, researchers, professionals, and ordinary users who rely on online translation services for communication, learning, and information access. By improving the quality of Mizo translations, the project is expected to make the language more accessible and usable across a wider range of digital platforms.
The chairman further stated that strengthening Mizo language technology would help preserve linguistic identity while ensuring that younger generations can continue to use their mother tongue effectively in the digital age. He expressed confidence that collaboration with technology experts would contribute significantly to the long-term development of Mizo language resources.
During the programme, R. Lallianzuala also officially launched the LushAI-Chat Application, a new artificial intelligence-powered platform developed by LushAI Technologies & Consulting Pvt. Ltd. The application has been designed specifically to support communication and information access in the Mizo language.
Available through chat.lushaitech.com, the platform can be accessed on both mobile devices and computers. Developers described the application as a Mizo-language equivalent of popular AI chat platforms, enabling users to interact with artificial intelligence in their native language.
