The Minister described the facility as a significant milestone for Mizoram, crediting the efforts of the concerned society and departments. He said the fish processing unit would greatly benefit local fish farmers by providing better marketing avenues, enabling them to process even smaller fish and sell them at fair and stable prices.
Emphasising quality and consumer trust, the Minister urged the Zawlnuam Fishery Cooperative Society Ltd. to ensure hygienic production and meet market demands. He assured continued government support for infrastructure expansion and collaborative efforts to strengthen the fisheries sector.
Highlighting broader agricultural initiatives, Vanlalruata noted that the state government is prioritising farmers’ welfare, including oil palm cultivation in Mamit district and various development projects under the Aspirational District programme. He stressed that marketing support for farmers’ produce remains a top priority.
