Manipur MSRLM Signs MoU with Canara Bank to Boost SHG Bank Linkages

Imphal, February 25: In a major push towards strengthening financial inclusion and rural livelihoods, the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canara Bank to enhance bank linkage support for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state.

The MoU was signed in the presence of State Mission Director MSRLM, Smt. N. Bandana Devi, IAS, and Mr. Debangan Mukherjee, Divisional Manager, Regional Office Silchar, Canara Bank.

The partnership aims to facilitate improved access to credit and banking services for SHGs, enabling rural women and community groups to expand income-generating activities and strengthen their livelihoods. Officials said the collaboration would streamline financial processes, improve credit flow and provide greater institutional support to grassroots-level groups.

By promoting inclusive, accessible and sustainable banking services, the initiative is expected to deepen financial inclusion in rural Manipur and empower communities to achieve economic self-reliance.

The move is seen as a significant step toward building stronger rural economies through enhanced cooperation between government livelihood missions and formal banking institutions.
