Calling it a “red-letter day” for Assam, the Chief Minister said the new infrastructure would strengthen access to quality education for women and promote academic excellence in the region.

During his visit to Jorhat, Sarma also inaugurated the Jorhat Government Law College and three Adarsha Vidyalayas, including two Tea Garden Model Schools in Mariani. He said the new institutions would significantly benefit students by enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations closer to home.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education, particularly for students from tea garden communities and rural areas.

As part of the programme, Sarma also handed over benefits under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CMAAA) to around 6,000 youths from Majuli, Jorhat and Golaghat districts. He said the initiative aims to empower young people to create employment opportunities locally rather than seeking jobs outside the state.

Describing the atmosphere as one of “jubilance in Jorhat,” the Chief Minister emphasized that sustained investment in education and entrepreneurship would drive Assam’s long-term growth and self-reliance.
