Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh Pays Last Respects to Vungzagin Valte in Gurugram

New Delhi, February 21: Manipur Chief Minister Shri Y. Khemchand Singh paid his last respects to Late Shri Vungzagin Valte, the MLA from Thanlon Assembly Constituency, at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, upon his arrival in the national capital on Saturday. The visit came a day after the veteran legislator passed away following a prolonged battle with injuries sustained during the ethnic violence that erupted in Manipur in May 2023.

In a solemn tribute, the Chief Minister stood in silence before the mortal remains of the late legislator and offered floral tributes as a mark of respect. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, expressing solidarity with them during their time of immense grief.

The Chief Minister also spent time interacting with Valte's family members, offering words of comfort and assuring them of the government's support. He recalled the late MLA's unwavering dedication to public service and his significant contributions to the welfare and development of the people of Thanlon constituency and Manipur.

A condolence meeting was later held at the hospital premises, attended by the Chief Minister along with MLA Shri Khashim Vashum (Chingai Assembly Constituency), MLA Shri Ngursanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency), and MLA Shri L.M. Khaute (Churachandpur Assembly Constituency). Family members, close relatives, and several prominent leaders of the Zomi community residing in Delhi also attended the gathering.

During the meeting, those present paid tribute to the late leader by observing a moment of silence and offering prayers for his eternal peace. Speakers remembered Vungzagin Valte as a humble, courageous, and dedicated public representative who remained committed to the welfare of his constituents throughout his political career.

The gathering concluded with leaders and community members reaffirming their support for the bereaved family while honouring the legacy of a leader whose resilience, commitment, and service to the people of Manipur will be remembered with respect and gratitude.
