Imphal/New Delhi, February 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Thanlon MLA Pu Vungzagin Valte, who passed away while undergoing medical treatment.

In a message shared on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Valte would be remembered for his outstanding service to the people of Manipur and for his insightful interventions in the Assembly. “He worked diligently towards bringing a positive difference in society. Pained by his passing. Condolences to his family, friends and supporters,” the Prime Minister stated.
The Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla also conveyed profound grief, describing Valte’s untimely demise as an irreparable loss to the people of the state and to public service. The Governor noted that he would be remembered for his dedication and committed service to society, and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Chief Minister Khemchand Yumnam expressed deep anguish over the passing of the Thanlon legislator, calling him a compassionate and dedicated public representative who devoted his life to the welfare and development of Manipur. He said Valte’s death marks the loss of a sincere leader and a pillar of strength for his people, and offered prayers for strength and comfort to the grieving family.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma also mourned the loss, describing Valte as a courageous leader and steadfast voice for the Zo people. He termed his demise a great loss to the Zo community and extended condolences to his family.
Pu Vungzagin Valte’s passing has drawn tributes from across political lines, with leaders remembering his commitment to public service and his contributions to the people of Manipur.
