Imphal/New Delhi, February 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, and Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma have expressed profound grief over the demise of Thanlon MLA Pu Vungzagin Valte, who passed away on Thursday while undergoing prolonged medical treatment following injuries sustained during the ethnic violence in Manipur.

In a condolence message shared on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Valte as a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the people of Manipur through his legislative work and commitment to social welfare. "Shri Vungzagin Valte Ji will be remembered for his outstanding service to the people of Manipur and his insightful interventions in the Assembly. He worked diligently towards bringing a positive difference in society. Pained by his passing. Condolences to his family, friends and supporters," the Prime Minister said.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also conveyed his heartfelt condolences, describing Valte's demise as an irreparable loss to the people of the state and to public life. He praised the late legislator's unwavering dedication, sincerity, and years of committed service, noting that his contributions would be remembered with respect and gratitude. The Governor prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh expressed deep anguish over the passing of the Thanlon MLA, describing him as a compassionate, humble, and committed leader who devoted his life to the welfare and development of the people of Manipur. He said Valte's death was a great loss not only to Thanlon constituency but to the entire state, adding that his sincerity and dedication to public service would continue to inspire future generations.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma also mourned the loss, describing Valte as a courageous leader and a steadfast voice for the Zo people. He termed the legislator's demise a significant loss to the wider Zo community and conveyed heartfelt condolences to his family and supporters.
