The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, senior ministers, police officials, and other dignitaries. Describing the occasion as historic, Sarma said the project reflects the state government's commitment to modernising the police force and making productive use of land that had allegedly remained under illegal encroachment for several decades.

According to the Chief Minister, the reclaimed land will be developed into a state-of-the-art battalion campus featuring advanced training facilities, residential quarters for personnel, healthcare services, sports infrastructure, and other essential amenities. Plans have also been proposed to establish a medical college and additional government institutions within the area, turning the site into a major administrative and public service hub.

Addressing the gathering, Sarma said the initiative symbolises the government's resolve to reclaim encroached land for public welfare and infrastructure development. He noted that strengthening police infrastructure is vital for maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Assam.

During his two-day visit to the state, Amit Shah also attended the 87th Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Raising Day Parade in Guwahati, where he presented gallantry and meritorious service medals to CRPF personnel. He praised the force for its dedication, professionalism, and crucial role in safeguarding the nation's internal security.
